MAIRE has announced a major strategic milestone as its subsidiary TECNIMONT S.p.A. formally enters the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. The company has signed a term sheet with Argent LNG, LLC, establishing the framework for collaboration on a large-scale LNG export facility in the United States. The project will be developed at Port Fourchon, Louisiana, a location widely recognized as one of the most strategically positioned and hurricane-resilient energy hubs in the country.
The agreement represents TECNIMONT’s first concrete operational move into the LNG export business, a segment that has been identified as a key growth driver within MAIRE’s Integrated Engineering & Construction Solutions (IE&CS) business unit. Through this initiative, MAIRE aims to diversify its project portfolio while strengthening its positioning in energy transition and large-scale energy infrastructure.
Under the terms of the agreement, TECNIMONT and Argent LNG will work in close, long-term alignment across engineering, development, and execution phases. The collaboration will support the project as it advances through permitting with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and progresses into the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase. Contracts related to FEED activities are expected to be finalized in the near term, creating a structured pathway toward a final investment decision.
A central feature of the project is the modular LNG platform jointly developed by Argent LNG and TECNIMONT. This platform has been designed to be fully scalable, replicable, and financeable, enabling the rapid deployment of LNG infrastructure in response to growing global demand. Each module is optimized for constructability, ease of transportation, and seamless integration, ensuring predictable execution schedules and cost control.
The modular concept is built around proven technologies supplied by globally recognized Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). By standardizing interfaces and leveraging established technology providers, the platform reduces technical and execution risks while enhancing overall project bankability. This disciplined, integrated approach is intended to improve certainty for investors and lenders, supporting efficient capital deployment and repeatable project development across different geographies.
The collaboration aims to deliver a standardized LNG solution that can be replicated across multiple projects worldwide, potentially setting a new benchmark for modular LNG infrastructure. It also further demonstrates TECNIMONT’s capability to combine precise engineering, disciplined project development, and advanced OEM integration, including partnerships with technology leaders such as Baker Hughes.
Commenting on the announcement, Alessandro Bernini, Chief Executive Officer of MAIRE, expressed strong enthusiasm for the initiative. He highlighted that the collaboration with Argent LNG not only reinforces MAIRE’s footprint in the United States but also opens access to a new and strategically important market segment. He emphasized TECNIMONT’s strengths in modular engineering and its flexibility in addressing complex and evolving energy challenges.
Jonathan Bass, Founder and Executive Chairman of Argent LNG, noted that the term sheet reflects a strong alignment between capital strategy, engineering discipline, and execution capability. He stated that engaging a Tier-1 global engineering organization at this early stage demonstrates the project’s seriousness, regulatory credibility, and long-term vision, with the ultimate goal of delivering an LNG export facility that meets the highest standards of technical excellence and capital efficiency.
