Weak Demand and Ample Imports Expected to Pressure India n-Methyl Aniline

George Orwell 21-Jul-2026
India's n-Methyl Aniline market declined during June 2026 as comfortable import availability, cautious downstream purchasing, and lower Nitro Benzene feedstock costs outweighed the impact of higher freight expenses. Regular cargo arrivals from East China ensured sufficient supply, while demand from gasoline additives, automotive, construction, polyurethane, and agrochemical sectors remained subdued due to monsoon-related seasonal weakness. Buyers largely restricted procurement to immediate requirements, keeping market sentiment bearish. Looking ahead, n-Methyl Aniline prices are expected to remain under pressure through July 2026. Although India's petrol and diesel consumption strengthened during early July, ample inventories, adequate imports, and cautious buying are likely to limit any meaningful price recovery.

India's n-Methyl Aniline market remained under downward pressure during June 2026, with prices declining due to cautious downstream demand, adequate import availability, and lower feedstock costs despite elevated logistics expenses. According to ChemAnalyst, the n-Methyl Aniline market faced weak spot buying as buyers limited purchases to immediate requirements amid monsoon-related demand slowdown. While higher container freight from East China increased import replacement costs, lower Nitro Benzene prices and sufficient product availability outweighed this support. The bearish trend in the n-Methyl Aniline market is expected to continue through July 2026, as ample inventories and cautious procurement are likely to offset the positive impact of improving fuel consumption.

Throughout June, supply conditions for n-Methyl Aniline remained steady as regular cargoes from East China continued to arrive at Indian ports. Exporters offered competitive n-Methyl Aniline cargoes due to lower production costs, while buyers staggered shipments toward the end of the quarter to optimize inventories. Although container freight costs increased sharply, sufficient imports ensured that n-Methyl Aniline availability remained adequate, preventing any supply-side tightness.

Demand for n-Methyl Aniline across downstream industries remained mixed during June. Consumption of n-Methyl Aniline in gasoline additive applications weakened as monsoon-related disruptions reduced road transportation activity across several regions. Automotive and construction sectors also experienced slower seasonal demand, limiting overall consumption of n-Methyl Aniline-based fuel additives. Meanwhile, polyurethane and agrochemical manufacturers continued to defer spot purchases, while specialty dye and pigment producers maintained only moderate export-oriented demand, which was insufficient to strengthen the overall n-Methyl Aniline market.

On the supply side, lower Nitro Benzene prices reduced manufacturing costs for n-Methyl Aniline producers, enabling overseas suppliers to maintain competitive offers. However, the sharp rise in Shanghai–JNPT container freight increased landed costs, partially offsetting the benefit of cheaper feedstocks. Even so, comfortable inventories and steady import arrivals ensured that n-Methyl Aniline supply remained sufficient, encouraging buyers to delay bulk purchases in anticipation of further price corrections.

Looking ahead, the n-Methyl Aniline market is expected to remain weak during July 2026, despite stronger fuel consumption reported in the first half of the month. Petrol sales increased by 22.9% year-on-year, while diesel consumption rose by 20.9%, supported by higher transportation activity and increased agricultural irrigation demand. Although stronger fuel usage could provide some support to n-Methyl Aniline demand in gasoline additive applications, this is unlikely to outweigh ample import availability, comfortable inventories, lower Nitro Benzene costs, and cautious downstream procurement. As a result, n-Methyl Aniline prices are expected to continue declining through July before showing signs of stabilization later in the quarter.
