Wood and Tendrill International have secured a five-year EPC contract with Brunei Shell Petroleum to deliver integrated brownfield services across offshore and onshore assets. The TendrillWood JV will enhance asset performance, promote local workforce development, and support Brunei’s energy goals. The contract includes a two-year extension option.
John Wood Group PLC, in partnership with Tendrill International Sdn. Bhd., has secured a significant five-year contract with Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP) to provide brownfield engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. Operating under the TendrillWood joint venture (JV), the agreement covers the full spectrum of brownfield EPC services, from initial conceptual design through to commissioning and start-up, across BSP’s offshore and onshore infrastructure.
BSP, the leading oil and gas producer in Brunei Darussalam, plays a crucial role in the country’s energy sector. The collaboration with TendrillWood is expected to support BSP’s mission to maintain and enhance production efficiency and safety standards. Formed in 2023, the TendrillWood JV employs around 1,000 personnel, with 70% being Bruneian nationals, highlighting the joint venture’s commitment to fostering local employment and expertise.
This long-term contract not only enhances Wood’s standing in the region as a reliable EPC partner but also reinforces the JV’s goal of strengthening the local supply chain and developing homegrown talent. Wood has had a longstanding relationship with BSP, having delivered engineering and operational support for more than a decade. Ken Gilmartin, CEO of Wood, stated that this new award reflects the company’s continued dedication to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient solutions. He emphasized that their deep understanding of BSP’s assets will allow them to boost asset performance while nurturing local workforce skills and expanding opportunities within Brunei’s supply chain.
Tendrill's Managing Director, Haryati Ramlee, also expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that the contract marks a significant milestone for both Tendrill and the JV. She highlighted that Tendrill’s local knowledge and Wood’s global expertise together will enable the delivery of safe and result-oriented outcomes for BSP. She also noted the alignment with Brunei’s national objectives to maximize local participation, promote capability development, and drive long-term value for the country.
The contract also includes an optional two-year extension, underscoring the long-term nature of the partnership. The TendrillWood JV’s commitment to maintaining international standards while investing in local communities exemplifies a forward-looking approach to energy development. This initiative not only enhances operational efficiency for BSP but also contributes meaningfully to national capacity building and sustainable industrial growth in Brunei.
