AMEA Power, a rapidly expanding renewable energy company based in the Middle East and Africa, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kyuden International Corporation, a subsidiary of Japan’s Kyuden Group, to jointly advance clean energy and green hydrogen initiatives. The agreement sets a collaborative framework to support decarbonization, energy security, and inclusive economic development across strategic global markets.
Under the MoU, both companies will combine their respective strengths—AMEA Power’s growing portfolio of renewable projects and Kyuden International’s technological expertise and international experience—to co-develop large-scale renewable energy and green hydrogen ventures. The partnership aims to accelerate the deployment of low-carbon energy systems, promote environmentally sustainable technologies, and help nations meet their climate targets.
AMEA Power currently has more than 2,600 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy projects either operational or under construction, and a robust development pipeline of over 6 gigawatts (GW) across more than 20 countries. This includes projects in solar, wind, and hybrid power, with growing interest in green hydrogen and related value chains.
Kyuden International, part of the larger Kyuden Group—one of Japan’s leading energy utilities—brings decades of technical innovation, system integration expertise, and a global perspective on energy infrastructure development. By combining Kyuden’s engineering proficiency with AMEA Power’s regional knowledge and execution capabilities, the partnership intends to scale clean energy solutions that are both impactful and bankable.
“This partnership with Kyuden International marks a significant milestone in AMEA Power’s mission to lead the energy transition in emerging markets,” said Hussain Al Nowais, chairman of AMEA Power. “Together, we are dedicated to delivering transformative clean energy and green hydrogen projects that generate long-term economic and social benefits for the communities we serve.”
The collaboration is anchored in a shared vision to drive forward sustainable development through innovative energy technologies. It aligns with global efforts to curb greenhouse gas emissions and supports national and regional development agendas that emphasize energy access, sustainability, and economic diversification.
The MoU also signals increasing interest in cross-border cooperation to develop green hydrogen infrastructure, a key enabler of net-zero ambitions in hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy industry and long-haul transport. As nations strive to meet their commitments under the Paris Agreement and prepare for a low-carbon future, partnerships like this one are expected to play a pivotal role in reshaping the global energy landscape.
Through this alliance, AMEA Power and Kyuden International aim to unlock new opportunities for clean energy investment and innovation across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
