Anaergia expands Italian biomethane projects with QGM, increasing contract value by C$17 million while supporting renewable energy and decarbonization goals.

Anaergia’s Italian subsidiary, Anaergia S.r.l., has strengthened its involvement in three biomethane facility projects being developed in northern Italy by signing amendments to earlier agreements with an entity owned by QGM S.à.r.l.. These projects, located in Ostellato, Copparo, and Derovere, are part of a broader push to expand renewable energy infrastructure and reduce carbon emissions across the region.

Under the revised agreements, Anaergia S.r.l. will take on an expanded scope of work across all three facilities. This enhancement has significantly increased the overall value of the contracts awarded to the company. Previously valued at approximately C$68 million, the total contract value has now risen to around C$85 million, reflecting an increase of C$17 million. This growth underscores both the scale of the projects and the confidence placed in Anaergia’s technological expertise and execution capabilities.

Originally announced earlier in 2025, these projects are designed to utilize Anaergia’s proprietary anaerobic digestion technologies. Through this process, organic agricultural residues—such as crop waste and other biodegradable materials—will be converted into renewable biomethane. This gas can then be injected into Italy’s existing natural gas grid, offering a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels while also supporting circular economy principles in the agricultural sector.

The three biomethane plants are expected to play a meaningful role in advancing Italy’s decarbonization strategy. By transforming agricultural waste into a valuable energy resource, the facilities will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower reliance on conventional energy sources, and enhance energy security. In addition, they align with broader European Union goals aimed at increasing renewable gas production and accelerating the transition to sustainable energy systems.

According to Assaf Onn, the expansion of Anaergia’s responsibilities across these projects highlights the company’s commitment to building long-term partnerships and delivering scalable, high-impact biomethane solutions. The strengthened collaboration with QGM reflects a shared vision of leveraging innovative technologies to drive sustainable growth in the renewable energy sector.

Overall, the amended contracts not only boost Anaergia’s project portfolio but also reinforce its position as a key player in the global biomethane market. As demand for renewable gas continues to rise, initiatives like these are expected to become increasingly important in meeting environmental targets while fostering economic development in rural and agricultural communities.
