Anaergia Inc, a global leader in converting organic waste into renewable natural gas (RNG), has announced a significant expansion of its collaboration with Techbau S.p.A., a prominent Italian engineering and construction firm. Through its subsidiary, Anaergia S.r.l., the company has signed a revised contract with Techbau to develop two additional biomethane production plants in Italy, increasing the total number of facilities under their partnership from five to seven.

The seven biomethane production plants are located across Southern Italy, aligning with the nation's ambitious goals for decarbonization and increased reliance on sustainable energy sources. Anaergia S.r.l. will be responsible for supplying its cutting-edge equipment essential for the biomethane production process. This advanced technology leverages anaerobic digestion to transform various agricultural and food processing wastes into renewable biomethane. Techbau S.p.A., acting as the general contractor, will oversee the engineering, procurement, and construction of these facilities, bringing its extensive expertise in large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects to the forefront.

This partnership is set to play a pivotal role in strengthening Italy's renewable energy infrastructure. The use of agricultural and food processing wastes as feedstock for biomethane production not only provides a sustainable energy source but also offers an effective waste management solution, reducing environmental impact. All seven plants are projected to be fully constructed and operational by mid-2026, seamlessly integrating renewable biomethane into Italy’s national gas pipeline grid.

The expanded contract is expected to generate an additional C$9.2 million in revenues for Anaergia, elevating the total anticipated revenues for all seven projects with Techbau to over C$36 million. This financial boost reflects the scale and significance of the collaboration, highlighting the economic viability of renewable energy initiatives.

Techbau, recognized as an Italian leader in the design and execution of complex infrastructure, brings its innovative approach and technical prowess to this collaboration. Their robust capabilities and proven track record in various sectors, including energy, transport, and manufacturing, make them an ideal partner for high-value projects like these biomethane plants.

Anaergia, with over 250 patents dedicated to converting organic waste into sustainable solutions such as RNG, fertilizer, and water, continues to be at the forefront of the renewable natural gas sector. The company's proprietary technologies, combined with its engineering expertise and vast experience in facility design, construction, and operation, solidify its position as a leader in the RNG industry.
