Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan strengthened energy cooperation, focusing on renewable integration, battery storage, grid modernization and regional energy security.
A high-level trilateral meeting recently took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, bringing together key energy sector representatives from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan to discuss enhancing regional energy cooperation. The delegations were led by Baba Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of OJSC “AzerEnerji” from Azerbaijan; Nabi Aitjanov, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Kazakhstan Electric Grid Operating Company” (KEGOC) from Kazakhstan; and Feruz Kurbanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan National Electric Grids.
The primary objective of the gathering was to facilitate an exchange of views on the current state and future prospects of energy collaboration among the three nations. Discussions particularly focused on the integration of new technologies and renewable energy sources into their respective energy systems. A significant point of discussion involved sharing experiences related to Azerbaijan’s recently commissioned energy storage centers, which utilize battery storage systems with capacities of 250 MWh and 500 MWh. This highlights a collective interest in modernizing energy infrastructure and adopting advanced solutions for energy management and stability.
