This collaboration marks a significant step forward for the Pacifico Mexinol project, with Bonatti's expertise in pipeline engineering being leveraged to build crucial infrastructure.

Transition Industries has partnered with Bonatti S.p.A. on the Pacifico Mexinol project in Sinaloa, Mexico. The agreement, valued at a binding lump sum, tasks Bonatti with upgrading port facilities and constructing critical pipelines, advancing the project to become the world's largest ultra-low carbon methanol facility.

The deal covers the detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and pre-commissioning for the upgrade of port and jetty facilities at the Terminal Transoceánica de Topolobampo, where all methanol will be loaded for export.

Beyond port upgrades, the agreement also puts Bonatti in charge of building the underground pipelines for methanol transfer and vapor recovery, as well as installing dual fiber optic cables between the main plant and the port site. This infrastructure is essential for the seamless and safe operation of the facility.

One of the project's most innovative and environmentally conscious features is the closed-loop water pipeline system, an aspect that Bonatti has the opportunity to build under the agreement. This system will treat and recycle municipal wastewater from the JAPAMA oxidation pools for all project needs. This approach is designed to avoid tapping into freshwater sources or negatively impacting the sensitive ecosystem of the Bay of Ohuira, making it one of the largest applications of industrial water reuse from municipal effluent globally. This commitment to environmental sustainability is a core value for both companies.

Balmore Brito, the Pacifico Mexinol Project Director and Head of Engineering and Technology for Transition Industries, praised the partnership. "We are proud to have Bonatti, a world-leader in pipeline EPCs, as part of our execution team," Brito said.

Gustavo Blejer, Bonatti’s Commercial Director for the Americas, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the project's role in the global decarbonization movement. "We are thrilled to be part of this flagship project, which marks an important step toward decarbonization. This is a great opportunity to combine Bonatti’s global expertise with our strong local experience, and to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ahome, Sinaloa, and Mexico.”

The Pacifico Mexinol project is being jointly developed by Transition Industries and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. With an estimated investment exceeding $3.3 billion, the facility is poised to be a world leader in sustainable chemical production. When it begins operations in 2029, it is expected to produce 6,130 metric tons of methanol per day, including approximately 350,000 MT of green methanol and 1.8 million MT of blue methanol annually. The use of natural gas with carbon capture technology will ensure its ultra-low carbon footprint, setting a new standard for industrial projects.
