Consilium acquires Insplorion’s hydrogen sensor business, boosting innovation, accelerating commercialization, and strengthening leadership in advanced hydrogen safety solutions globally.

Consilium Safety Group has further strengthened its position as a leader in the safety technology sector by acquiring the hydrogen sensor technology business of Insplorion AB. This acquisition includes all associated assets and intellectual property, marking an important milestone in Consilium’s long-term strategy to advance innovative gas safety solutions across multiple high-risk industries such as marine operations, critical infrastructure, rail transportation, and energy systems.

As global industries increasingly transition toward cleaner energy sources, hydrogen has emerged as a promising alternative to traditional fossil fuels. However, hydrogen’s highly flammable nature requires advanced detection and monitoring systems to ensure safe handling, storage, and transportation. This shift has created a rising demand for reliable, certified, and technologically sophisticated hydrogen safety solutions. By acquiring Insplorion’s specialized technology, Consilium gains access to a unique portfolio of hydrogen sensing innovations along with the expertise behind their development. This positions the company to play a leading role in shaping the future of hydrogen safety.

The leadership at Consilium has emphasized that this move is not just an expansion, but a forward-looking investment in next-generation safety technologies. According to CEO Philip Isell Lind af Hageby, the acquisition represents a strategic effort to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry. He highlighted that integrating advanced sensor capabilities with a skilled team enables Consilium to accelerate its innovation pipeline and establish itself at the forefront of hydrogen detection technology. The collaboration is expected to enhance the company’s ability to deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet the highest safety standards.

The transaction was finalized following approval from Insplorion’s shareholders during an extraordinary general meeting held on April 13, ensuring that all regulatory and governance requirements were satisfied. This approval paved the way for a smooth transfer of assets and ongoing projects.

A key component of the acquisition is Insplorion’s hydrogen sensor product, known as NPS-P2, which has already demonstrated strong performance in challenging and demanding environments. The product is currently undergoing certification processes that are essential for deployment in regulated sectors, including the global marine industry. Consilium is well-equipped to take over and expedite these certification efforts, benefiting from its extensive experience, established global distribution channels, and strong reputation in the safety solutions market.

By leveraging its existing infrastructure and brand recognition, Consilium aims to accelerate the commercialization of the hydrogen sensor technology on a larger scale. This will not only enhance its product offerings but also contribute to safer adoption of hydrogen as a sustainable energy source worldwide. Overall, the acquisition represents a strategic alignment with global energy trends and reinforces Consilium’s commitment to innovation, safety, and industry leadership.
