Elcogen's components, including cells, stacks, and modules, are key to developing a wide range of clean energy systems. These are integrated into third-party applications for everything from green hydrogen production and Power-to-X solutions to off-grid power and industrial backup.

Elcogen officially launched its new ELCO I manufacturing plant in Tallinn, Estonia, a significant step in boosting Europe's capacity for solid oxide technology. The facility, a 14,000 m² site built with a €50 million investment, increases the company’s production from 10 MW to 360 MW of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and electrolysis cells (SOECs) for clean energy solutions. This move aims to accelerate the global energy transition by providing high-efficiency components at commercial volumes.

The opening of the ELCO I facility marks a critical moment for Elcogen and the broader clean energy landscape. Located on the outskirts of Tallinn, this new manufacturing hub is designed to deliver high-performance technology at a global scale.

Enn Õunpuu, CEO of Elcogen, emphasized that the facility is built for "scale, speed, and global impact." The timing is strategic, coinciding with an increased worldwide demand for clean technology as governments and private sectors prioritize energy security and net-zero commitments. The factory itself reflects this commitment with sustainable design features, including a 9 MW energy supply from the nearby Iru Power Plant and systems for process heat reuse to minimize emissions.

The €50 million capital investment for the ELCO I project was delivered on time and on budget, a testament to the collaboration between Elcogen and its partners, including construction partner Maru Ehitus AS. The funding was provided by major stakeholders like Baker Hughes and HD Hyundai, along with support from the European Innovation Fund, which has committed an additional €25 million to further expand the facility's capacity.

This flagship facility, ELCO I, is not just about expanding production; it's a blueprint for future development. Elcogen plans to license its technology and manufacturing model to trusted partners globally. This strategy ensures consistent intellectual property control while promoting local manufacturing and strengthening supply chains in different markets. The company’s workforce, currently comprised of nearly 150 employees from over 20 nationalities, is expected to grow by another 300 local jobs as the facility ramps up to mass production.
