Iran allowed Indian tankers Pushpak and Parimal to pass through the Strait of Hormuz after diplomatic talks between Jaishankar and Araghchi.

Following diplomatic discussions between Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, and Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Iran granted permission for two Indian-flagged oil tankers—Pushpak and Parimal—to safely pass through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. The decision came amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the region, which have led to tighter monitoring and restrictions on vessels linked to the United States, several European nations, and Israel.

The approval allows the tankers to continue their voyage without disruption through one of the world’s most critical maritime energy corridors. The Strait of Hormuz plays a pivotal role in global energy transportation, serving as a key passageway for a large portion of the world’s crude oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. Any limitation or instability in this route can significantly affect international energy markets and supply chains.

India, which relies heavily on imported crude oil and LNG to meet its growing energy demand, closely monitors developments in this region. The successful diplomatic engagement between the two foreign ministers highlights India’s efforts to safeguard its energy security and maintain stable trade routes during periods of geopolitical uncertainty.

By permitting the transit of Pushpak and Parimal, Iran demonstrated a willingness to maintain constructive engagement with India despite broader regional tensions. The move ensures that Indian energy shipments can continue moving through the Strait of Hormuz without interruption, helping to stabilize supply lines and prevent potential delays in energy deliveries.

The development also underscores the importance of diplomatic dialogue in managing maritime security concerns and maintaining the uninterrupted flow of global energy resources through key international waterways.
