A record number of European plastics converters participated in the Polymers for Europe Alliance's annual supplier assessment. Westlake Vinnolit emerged victorious in the PVC category, garnering a remarkable 92% of the vote. This win recognizes their excellence in key areas like delivery reliability, commitment to circularity, product quality, communication, innovation, and dedication to the European market over the past year.

Moreover, Westlake Vinnolit has secured the prestigious 'Overall Award – Decarbonization.' Schellerer expressed immense pride in receiving the PVC Award, highlighting it as a significant accolade, second only to being named the number one plastics supplier for decarbonization. At the European Plastics Converters’ conference ‘A Circular Future with Plastics’ in Brussels, he accepted the awards and certificates from Ron Marsh, Chairman of the Alliance, and EuPC President Benoît Hennaut. Schellerer emphasized the critical role of de-fossilizing plastics in combating climate change, recognizing it as one of the industry's biggest challenges. He noted that their CO2-saving GreenVin® product line supports customers in reducing Scope 3.1 emissions and advancing their sustainability goals.

Vinnolit GreenVin® PVC is manufactured entirely using electricity from renewable energy sources, certified by European high-quality certificates for renewable energies (Guarantees of Origin / HKNs), resulting in approximately 25% lower CO2 emissions compared to conventionally produced Vinnolit® PVC. The carbon footprint was meticulously calculated by Sustainable AG in accordance with ISO 14067 standards and certified by TÜV Rheinland. Additionally, GreenVin® bio-attributed PVC employs renewable ethylene derived from 2nd generation biomass, achieving up to 90% CO2 savings by factoring in biogenic CO2 fixation. This bio-attributed PVC is mass-balanced and certified according to ISCC PLUS and REDcert2 standards, while maintaining the favorable product and processing properties that customers expect.

The Polymers for Europe Alliance, initiated by the European Plastics Converters association (EuPC), is dedicated to enhancing transparency and communication within the European polymer supply chain. This Alliance provides factual and up-to-date public information on the status of the polymer supply situation across Europe, ensuring that industry stakeholders are well-informed. Additionally, it promotes constructive dialogue between polymer suppliers and users to address challenges and improve collaboration. A key initiative of the Alliance is the Polymer Producers Awards for Europe, an annual event where polymer users across Europe can participate in a comprehensive customer satisfaction survey to evaluate and rate their suppliers based on various performance criteria. This initiative not only recognizes excellence but also encourages continuous improvement among suppliers.

A leading name in PVC specialties, Westlake Vinnolit has carved a niche for itself as a global leader, catering to a wide range of industries. Their expertise extends beyond PVC, making them a key partner for caustic soda as well. This focus on comprehensive solutions means they can tailor their offerings to the specific needs of customers in construction, automotive, medical technology, and even pulp & paper production. Headquartered near Munich, Germany, they have a network of four production facilities spread across Burghausen, Gendorf, Knapsack and Cologne.
