Lhyfe signs a long-term deal to supply over 200 tonnes of RFNBO hydrogen, enabling cleaner heavy mobility and avoiding 1,700 tonnes CO2.
Lhyfe, recognized as one of the global front-runners in producing green and renewable hydrogen for cleaner mobility and industrial applications, has announced the signing of a long-term supply agreement with a major operator in the heavy hydrogen-powered mobility segment. This new partnership marks another significant step in Lhyfe’s mission to accelerate large-scale decarbonisation efforts across sectors that are traditionally hard to abate.
Under the terms of this multi-year agreement, Lhyfe will provide its customer with renewable hydrogen certified as RFNBO (Renewable Fuel of Non-Biological Origin). This certification represents the European Union’s most rigorous standard for renewable hydrogen production, ensuring that the fuel meets strict sustainability, origin, and emissions-reduction criteria. RFNBO-certified hydrogen stands as a crucial enabler for Europe’s clean-energy transition, especially for industries such as freight, transport, and logistics, which demand reliable and low-carbon fuel alternatives.
Through this newly signed contract, Lhyfe has committed to supplying more than 200 tonnes of RFNBO hydrogen over the agreed period. This substantial volume is expected to power hydrogen-fueled heavy-duty trucks for a combined distance exceeding 2.5 million kilometres. The environmental impact of this supply is equally notable, as it is projected to help avoid approximately 1,700 tonnes of CO2 emissions, contributing meaningfully to climate-action targets and helping operators reduce their carbon footprint without compromising on performance or operational efficiency.
The agreement officially came into force on 1 November 2025, reflecting the growing momentum behind renewable hydrogen deployment in Europe and reinforcing the market’s confidence in Lhyfe’s production capabilities. As more operators seek dependable low-carbon alternatives for long-distance and intensive transport operations, hydrogen is increasingly being viewed as a viable and scalable solution—particularly for heavy-mobility applications where battery-electric systems may face limitations related to weight, range, and charging time.
Commenting on the announcement, Matthieu Guesné, Founder and CEO of Lhyfe, emphasized the strategic importance of hydrogen in transforming the heavy-mobility landscape. He noted that decarbonising freight transport through hydrogen is no longer a matter of choice but a critical necessity. Addressing ongoing debates comparing hydrogen with battery-electric technologies, he stressed that Lhyfe’s approach focuses on rapid deployment and real-world impact rather than theoretical arguments. According to Guesné, while some stakeholders continue to question the maturity and long-term sustainability of hydrogen models, Lhyfe is moving decisively—investing, scaling, and implementing practical solutions that demonstrate hydrogen’s value in the clean-mobility ecosystem. He added that this contract signals the beginning of a broader shift, with adoption expected to accelerate further as the benefits become increasingly evident.
This agreement reinforces Lhyfe’s role as a pivotal contributor in advancing hydrogen-based mobility, supporting Europe’s broader climate goals, and promoting a cleaner, more sustainable future for heavy transportation.
