Liquid Wind, a pioneering company in the production of sustainable eFuels, has announced a strategic partnership with SAMSUNG E&A to expedite the development of eFuel facilities across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. This collaboration aims to leverage the combined expertise of both companies to identify and pursue opportunities for eFuel facility development, expanding Liquid Wind's global footprint.

The partnership will see SAMSUNG E&A providing engineering services for Liquid Wind's future eFuel facility projects outside of Europe. This strategic move aligns with Liquid Wind's long-term vision and market strategy to scale up eFuel production and meet the rising demand for fossil-free fuels.

Claes Fredriksson, CEO and founder of Liquid Wind, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "We are excited to announce this new partnership, especially after welcoming Samsung Ventures as a shareholder in Liquid Wind. This collaboration will enable us to explore the feasibility of developing eFuel facilities beyond Europe, addressing the increasing market demand for sustainable fuels."

Hong Namkoong, President and CEO of SAMSUNG E&A, emphasized the importance of eFuels in combating climate change and the company's commitment to driving growth in the eFuel market. He stated, "Building on our strong legacy in the Oil & Gas EPC sector, SAMSUNG E&A recognizes the crucial role of eFuels in mitigating climate change. By leveraging our expertise in EPC and modular manufacturing, we aim to contribute to the successful delivery of Liquid Wind's eFuel projects and unlock new opportunities in this transformative sector."

A Significant Milestone

The collaboration agreement was formally signed by Claes Fredriksson and Hong Namkoong during the Sweden-South Korea Strategic Summit in Seoul on December 5, 2024. This event marked a significant milestone in the advancement of eFuel technology and its global adoption.

Recent Funding and Future Outlook

In November 2024, Liquid Wind secured €44 million ($47 million USD) in Series C financing from Uniper, Hycap, and Samsung Ventures. This substantial investment will accelerate the development of green eFuel production for hard-to-abate sectors like shipping.

The partnership between Liquid Wind and SAMSUNG E&A is poised to drive innovation and accelerate the transition to a sustainable future. By combining their strengths and expertise, the two companies aim to make a significant impact on the global energy landscape.

Liquid Wind is a leading eFuel facility developer committed to decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors. By converting green hydrogen and biogenic CO2 into eFuel, their facilities offer sectors like global shipping the opportunity to accelerate their transition to sustainable fuels.
