LONGi, a global leader in solar PV, officially entered the energy storage market in London, completing its transformation into an integrated "Solar-Storage-Hydrogen" comprehensive energy provider.
In a significant strategic move that reshapes its identity within the global energy landscape, LONGi—a dominant force in the photovoltaic (PV) sector—officially launched its energy storage solutions on November 26 in London, England. This event marks a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution, transitioning from a pure solar leader to a comprehensive energy solution provider integrating Solar, Storage, and Hydrogen.
Addressing the anticipated doubling of global electricity demand by 2050, Dennis She, Vice President of LONGi, introduced the company's new "Stability Triangle" energy framework. This framework positions solar energy as the creator of clean energy, energy storage as the stabilizer of the power system, and hydrogen as the regulator that balances it all.
"The synergy of these three will build a truly widespread, highly resilient, and affordable zero-carbon energy system," Mr. She stated. The expansion into energy storage completes LONGi's strategic layout, fully forming a closed-loop across the entire "Solar-Storage-Hydrogen" value chain. LONGi already boasts leading PV technology, with its HIBC cell efficiency reaching 27.81%, and its ALK electrolyzer capacity ranking first globally in the hydrogen sector, providing a strong technological foundation for this integration.
To uphold this value proposition, LONGi is prioritizing "Ultimate Safety" by engaging in deep collaboration with PotisEdge, an energy storage safety expert. This partnership is founded on a robust three-pillar technical architecture: "intrinsic safety, active defense, and intelligent early warning." PotisEdge’s fully self-developed "5S" energy storage system, featuring unique BMS (Battery Management System) and iCCS (Integrated Cooling and Control System) designs, has maintained a remarkable safety record of "zero thermal runaway" incidents across over 12 GWh of cumulative energy storage systems over the past decade. This technology is set to provide solid support for LONGi's new solutions.
In a move to accelerate the region's energy transition, LONGi also announced the establishment of its first Solar-Storage Technology Innovation Center (Center of Excellence, CoE) in Europe. This center will be a hub for comprehensive customer support, offering project consulting, technical training, O&M support, and spare parts services.
The LONGi Energy Storage Solution will be deployed first in crucial European markets, including the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain, aiming to assist utilities and power companies in building smarter and more efficient clean energy systems. The company views Europe’s urgent need for energy transition and its mature market mechanisms as an ideal platform for implementing its integrated strategy.
