Nel ASA partners with GreenH AS to supply electrolyser technology for two 10+ MW green hydrogen projects in Norway’s Kristiansund and Slagentangen.
Nel ASA has announced that it will serve as the technology provider for GreenH AS’s upcoming green hydrogen projects in Kristiansund and Slagentangen, Norway. This partnership follows GreenH’s announcement on November 7, 2025, confirming investment decisions and progress on its Enova-supported hydrogen initiatives.
GreenH AS specializes in developing, constructing, owning, and operating hydrogen production facilities powered entirely by renewable energy sources. Its mission is to create a network of distributed hydrogen production sites across Norway, enabling decarbonization across key sectors such as maritime transport, industrial operations, and mobility. By establishing facilities close to end users, GreenH aims to minimize logistics expenses, improve supply chain efficiency, and accelerate the growth of local and regional hydrogen value chains.
The new facilities in Kristiansund and Slagentangen are integral components of GreenH’s broader national strategy. These plants will supply locally produced green hydrogen to maritime and industrial customers, strengthening Norway’s ambition to become a leading player in sustainable energy and emission-free technologies. Each site will utilize advanced electrolyser systems to ensure high efficiency and reliability, forming a key part of GreenH’s distributed production model.
Morten Solberg Watle, Chief Executive Officer of GreenH AS, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We have collaborated with Nel for quite some time to identify the optimal electrolyser technology for the Kristiansund and Slagentangen projects. The signing of this agreement marks a significant milestone, and we are very pleased to welcome Nel as our technology partner for these important projects.”
Echoing this sentiment, Håkon Volldal, President and CEO of Nel ASA, emphasized the company’s commitment to advancing Norway’s hydrogen infrastructure. “We are pleased to support GreenH in developing regional hydrogen infrastructure and look forward to working closely as the projects advance,” Volldal said.
Under the terms of the agreement, Nel will deliver electrolyser equipment along with engineering and technical support services. The precise project scope, capacity, and delivery schedules are expected to be finalized at a later stage. However, initial plans indicate that each site will have a minimum capacity of 10 MW, bringing the total combined capacity to more than 20 MW.
This collaboration reinforces Nel’s position as a leading global provider of hydrogen technology solutions and reflects its ongoing efforts to enable the transition to a low-carbon economy. Together, Nel and GreenH aim to accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen in Norway, strengthening the country’s clean energy ecosystem and setting an example for sustainable industrial growth.
