Plug Power Inc., a global leader in hydrogen solutions, announced that its hydrogen plant in Woodbine, Georgia, set a new production record in April 2025 by producing 300 metric tons of liquid hydrogen. This marks the highest monthly output ever for the facility and establishes a new benchmark for the U.S. hydrogen industry.
The Georgia plant, which began operations in January 2024, is the largest electrolytic liquid hydrogen production facility in the country. It uses Plug Power’s proprietary GenEco proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer technology. Designed with a nameplate capacity of 15 tons per day, the facility continues to prove the scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of Plug Power’s vertically integrated approach to hydrogen production.
“Plug’s Georgia plant is doing exactly what it was built to do — delivering real hydrogen at real scale using Plug technology,” said Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug Power. “This isn’t a pilot or a promise. It’s commercial hydrogen production, with proven technology running 24/7 and making an impact today.”
The Woodbine plant is a key part of Plug Power’s expanding hydrogen production network, which also includes operational sites in Tennessee and Louisiana. Combined, these facilities have a total production capacity of 40 tons per day, making Plug Power the largest producer of liquid hydrogen in the United States.
Jose Luis Crespo, Plug Power’s chief revenue officer, noted that the Georgia plant’s performance underscores strong market demand for the company’s GenEco electrolyzer technology. “Producing and delivering hydrogen with our own technology strengthens customer value, improves margins, and supports long-term commercial growth,” he said.
Hydrogen produced at the Georgia facility supplies major customers in the logistics and distribution sectors, including Walmart, Amazon and Home Depot. The plant’s output helps these companies reduce their carbon footprints while ensuring a stable supply of domestically produced hydrogen fuel.
Plug Power’s achievement reflects growing momentum in the hydrogen economy, with the company positioned as a leading provider of clean energy solutions for industrial and commercial use. The Woodbine plant’s record production demonstrates the viability of green hydrogen at scale and supports efforts to transition toward sustainable energy sources in the U.S. and beyond.
The Georgia facility’s success highlights Plug Power’s commitment to delivering innovative hydrogen technology that meets market demand and environmental goals. As hydrogen gains traction as a clean fuel alternative, Plug Power continues to expand its infrastructure and production capabilities to meet increasing customer needs.
Plug is leading the development of the global hydrogen economy through a fully integrated ecosystem that includes hydrogen production, storage, distribution, and power generation.
