px Group, the operator of several critical infrastructure sites across the UK and Europe, has announced its acquisition of a majority stake in LIFTE H2, a Germany-based company specializing in hydrogen engineering solutions.

LIFTE H2 is dedicated to advancing Europe's transition to green energy by providing straightforward, secure, and cost-effective hydrogen infrastructure solutions. The company guides its clients through every stage of their hydrogen journey, from hydrogen generation through electrolysis to its utilization in sectors such as heavy transport. The executives and engineers at LIFTE H2 bring extensive expertise in hydrogen technology, having previously worked on hydrogen and renewable energy projects for renowned firms like Shell, Uniper, E.ON, RWE, Siemens Energy, and TÜV SÜD.

Recognized as a trusted collaborator within the European hydrogen landscape, LIFTE H2 actively participates in prominent industry bodies and associations, including Clean Energy Partnership, Hydrogen Europe, Deutsches Institut für Normung, and Clean Port & Logistics, highlighting its commitment to sustainable advancement.

px Group and LIFTE H2 share a common long-term vision for sustainable infrastructure within the energy sector. px Group sees opportunities to enhance LIFTE H2's engineering team with its own engineering and operational expertise, as well as the potential to leverage LIFTE H2's hydrogen development knowledge in the UK to expedite the adoption of hydrogen applications. Together, px Group and LIFTE H2 boast a team of 250 capable engineers dedicated to various hydrogen and energy transition projects.

This announcement marks px Group's further expansion into continental Europe, complementing its existing operations in Norway and ongoing activities in the Netherlands, Germany, and the Nordics.

Geoff Holmes, CEO of px Group, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “LIFTE H2’s ambitious team has established a renowned and trusted business in the industry. Its commitment to safe, simple, and affordable solutions aligns closely with px Group’s objectives, and we look forward to growing together.”

Murat Aydemir, px Group’s Managing Director for Germany, highlighted LIFTE H2's rapid growth and robust pipeline of hydrogen projects and partnerships. He emphasized the potential for px engineering and LIFTE H2 to collaborate on engineering solutions for an expanded range of hydrogen and energy transition projects.

"Germany boasts one of the most advanced hydrogen economies in Europe, if not the foremost, and leads in hydrogen transport infrastructure. Nevertheless, obstacles to hydrogen entry persist across the value chain and continent-wide. LIFTE H2's proven solution effectively reduces these barriers, facilitating increased investments in hydrogen."

Paul Karzel, the Managing Director at LIFTE H2, expresses enthusiasm about partnering with px Group. He highlights how their complementary strengths will facilitate the delivery of larger hydrogen projects beyond their current portfolio. Karzel emphasizes that this strategic alliance enhances engineering capabilities on both sides and improves resource efficiency in non-engineering areas. Together, they aim to advance hydrogen projects, leveraging px Group's experience in designing and operating large process plants alongside LIFTE H2's profound expertise in hydrogen.
