These contracts will leverage the companies' 20-year collaboration to help unlock critical hydrocarbon reserves in Block H and extend the life of Malaysia’s first deepwater oil project, Kikeh.

Global energy technology company SLB announced today that its OneSubsea™ joint venture has secured two sizeable Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts from PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP). The agreements focus on providing comprehensive subsea production systems (SPS) for the expansion of two critical deepwater developments offshore Malaysia, building upon a successful, two-decade-long partnership between the two energy leaders.

The contracts cover the provision of integrated SPS for multiple fields. Specifically, SLB OneSubsea will deliver systems for the Alum, Bemban, and Permai deepwater gas fields located within Block H, as well as for the Kikeh field, which holds the distinction of being Malaysia’s first deepwater oil project.

The critical hardware and systems to be supplied under the scope of work include:

Horizontal subsea trees , which are crucial components that sit on the seabed wellhead to control the flow of production or injection fluids.

Umbilicals , which are composite cables that link surface control stations to the subsea equipment, providing essential electric and fiber-optic signals, electrical power, and hydraulic and chemical injection fluids.

Control systems, and other associated services necessary for reliable deepwater operations.

"We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with PTTEP, which has seen the delivery of more than 50 systems over the past 20 years," stated Mads Hjelmeland, chief executive officer of SLB OneSubsea. He emphasized the strategic value of the collaboration, noting, "By leveraging our experience in complex deepwater environments and adopting a highly collaborative, early engagement process with our clients, we will help PTTEP unlock maximum value from these projects."

The fields involved operate in complex deepwater environments, with water depths ranging between 1,100 and 1,300 meters.

The Block H gas development is a cornerstone of Malaysia's deepwater gas strategy. It has been producing natural gas from the Rotan and Buluh fields since February 2021, supplying additional feed gas to the Petronas Floating Liquefied Natural Gas Dua (PFLNG DUA) facility. The current EPC contracts target the Alum, Bemban, and Permai fields to further enhance the block's gas supply.

The Kikeh oil and gas field has been in production since 2007. The new subsea systems are intended to extend the life and productivity of this pioneering deepwater asset.
