The price of Aspirin has fallen in the US in recent months. In May 2023, the price of Aspirin fell about 10% from its peak in January 2023. Market fundamentals indicated that the decline in Aspirin prices was mainly due to lower domestic demand, ongoing geopolitical tensions, and increasing supplies. In addition, the US market strengthened due to a decrease in imports from one of the main exporters, China, which further declined production in exporting countries.
Another reason for the decline in Aspirin prices is the falling demand in the domestic market. In recent months, demand for Aspirin has decreased as consumers have switched to other pain relievers such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Some manufacturers, suppliers, and industry professionals have reduced Aspirin prices to clear inventory. In addition, such price developments contributed to the weakening of trade, which caused the storage of ships and irregular exports. Also, a few policies implemented by the US have also contributed to the declining price trend. These policies have made it more difficult to import Aspirin from China, which has led to an increase in the supply of domestically produced products. These policies include increased inspections and stricter quality control standards.
As in the United States, the price of Aspirin continued to decrease. Supply has increased in recent months as overall competition for the product has increased. This also lowers prices because generic manufacturers can produce Aspirin more cheaply than brand-name manufacturers. This has led to a drop in prices of various pharmaceutical end products and medicines such as Aspirin across the region. Additionally, in order to balance their profit margins, traders and suppliers had to reduce the prices of their accumulated Aspirin stocks as demand in the local market fell short of expectations compared to previous months. Also, there is an ongoing trade dispute between the United States and China. The US and China have been in a trade war for over two years. Both countries-imposed tariffs on billions of dollars worth of goods during that time. The tariffs increased the price of Chinese products for American consumers and reduced demand for Chinese products. This hindered trade between China and the United States.
As per the ChemAnalyst anticipation, " a moderate increase in the price of Aspirin is expected in the coming months. A new product will likely be launched in the export market in response to increased inquiries and high energy prices. Market participants may have sufficient inventory to fulfill urgent orders anywhere in the international market."
