Akora Secures Funds to Advance Bekisopa Iron Ore Project

Akora Resources raised funds to accelerate permitting, financing, and strategic partnerships for Madagascar's Bekisopa iron ore project targeting green steel markets.

Akora Resources Limited has successfully secured $3.3 million through an equity fundraising initiative to accelerate the development of its wholly owned Bekisopa Iron Ore Project in Madagascar. The financing, completed through a combination of a placement and entitlement offer, will primarily support permitting activities, project financing, stakeholder engagement, and discussions with potential strategic partners as the company moves closer to commercial development.

The newly raised capital will help Akora progress regulatory approvals required under its recently granted mining permit while also advancing engineering and mine development activities. A portion of the proceeds will also strengthen engagement with local communities and government authorities, ensuring continued support for the project's long-term development. The remaining funds will be allocated toward general corporate and working capital requirements.

Bekisopa is being developed through a phased strategy designed to generate early cash flow while creating long-term value. During the initial phase, the company plans to produce up to 2 million tonnes per year of direct shipping iron ore with an average iron content exceeding 61%. Ore from near-surface deposits will be processed and exported to conventional steelmakers through Madagascar's existing port infrastructure.

In the second phase, Akora intends to upgrade deeper iron ore resources into premium-grade concentrate exceeding 67% iron content using magnetic separation technology. This higher-quality product is intended for Direct Reduced Iron-Electric Arc Furnace (DRI-EAF) steelmaking, a production route that supports lower-carbon steel manufacturing and aligns with the growing global transition toward greener industrial processes.

The company has also intensified discussions with potential investors, strategic partners, and offtake financiers from China, India, and Eastern Europe. Supported by financial advisor Grant Samuel, these discussions involve technical, commercial, and financial due diligence as Akora evaluates partnership opportunities to support construction and future operations. Interest has also emerged from infrastructure and engineering groups seeking participation in the project.

Management recently completed meetings with Madagascar's mining authorities, regional officials, and local communities, receiving positive feedback regarding the project's progress. The company believes this broad stakeholder support reduces development risk and strengthens the project's pathway toward production.

Alongside Bekisopa, Akora continues exploring its wholly owned Satrokala Iron Ore Project, where recent magnetic surveys identified promising exploration targets. While Satrokala remains at an early exploration stage, Bekisopa remains the company's primary development priority.

With regulatory approvals advancing, financing discussions progressing, and growing international demand for high-grade iron ore suitable for low-emission steel production, Akora is positioning Bekisopa as a significant future supplier to both traditional and green steel markets.

Impact on ChemAnalyst Chemical Commodity Prices

The development primarily affects the steel value chain rather than chemical markets. In the near term, prices of chemical commodities tracked by ChemAnalyst are expected to remain largely stable, as the project is still in the permitting and financing stage. Over the longer term, increased production of premium iron ore could support expansion of DRI-EAF steelmaking, potentially boosting demand for industrial gases such as oxygen and reducing agents like hydrogen as green steel projects expand. However, commodities including methanol, ammonia, ethylene, propylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, and other petrochemicals are unlikely to experience any direct price movement from this announcement alone.
