L&T Wins Rs 15,000 Crore Middle East Offshore Project

L&T secured a major Middle East offshore development contract, strengthening its energy portfolio and supporting regional investments in future energy infrastructure.

Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) has secured an “ultramega” offshore development project worth more than Rs 15,000 crore from a Middle East client. The order was announced Monday and marks a significant expansion of the company’s offshore energy project portfolio.

L&T’s Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore (LTEH Offshore) business will execute the project through an integrated engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) model. The contract covers the development of multiple offshore facilities and is considered one of the major offshore projects currently progressing in the Middle East.

A substantial share of the project’s fabrication work will be undertaken at L&T’s integrated manufacturing and fabrication facilities. This approach is expected to support efficient project execution while allowing the company to leverage its established offshore engineering and fabrication capabilities.

LTEH Offshore has extensive experience in complex offshore developments across international markets. Its project portfolio includes fixed offshore platforms, subsea pipelines and structures, brownfield upgrades and modifications, deepwater subsea structures and pipelines, as well as decommissioning programs. This experience positions the company to manage the technical and operational requirements associated with the newly awarded project.

T. Madhava Das, Whole-time Director, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of L&T’s Energy Hydrocarbon Division, said the order represents one of the most significant offshore developments underway in the Middle East. He noted that the project reflects increasing investment in infrastructure designed to meet future energy demand.

The scale and complexity of the project will require advanced engineering expertise, integrated execution capabilities and close coordination across several workstreams. L&T’s established offshore capabilities and manufacturing infrastructure are expected to play a crucial role in delivering the project.

The order also highlights continued investment in Middle Eastern energy infrastructure despite the region’s gradual transition toward cleaner energy sources. Large-scale offshore developments are expected to remain important for supporting oil and gas production, processing and transportation capacity to meet long-term energy requirements.

For L&T, the contract strengthens its order book and reinforces its position as a major international engineering and construction player in the offshore energy sector. It could also provide greater visibility for revenue generation from the Energy Hydrocarbon business over the project execution period.

Impact on Products and Chemical Commodity Prices

The project is positive for offshore oil and gas-related products, including steel, specialty coatings, corrosion inhibitors, engineering materials, insulation products and industrial chemicals. Higher offshore construction activity can increase demand for these materials across fabrication and installation operations. For chemical commodities tracked by ChemAnalyst, the impact is likely to be moderately bullish over the medium term, particularly for epoxy resins, polyurethane, solvents, coatings chemicals, methanol and other oilfield chemicals. However, the contract alone is unlikely to trigger a sharp price increase because global commodity prices remain more influenced by crude oil prices, feedstock costs, regional supply-demand balances and overall offshore investment trends.
